WONKY2 stars of stage and screen

Saturday August 24 & Sunday August 25
Guinness Storehouse, Dublin

On April 13, 2002, 5th @ the Guinness Storehouse presented WONKY. D.A.D.D.Y., DEL9, Somadrone, The Redneck Manifesto, Formika, Goodtime John, The Jimmy Cake and Donal Dineen¹s The Sound in a Light Year film all for six euro in a supercool location. Sold out in two weeks. Brilliant live sets. Hilarious visual stuff. Big fun.

This time around WONKY2 swells into a more adventurous affair over two days with two floors each day. We¹ve invited a couple of international names to take part on the Saturday. Four Tet is the work of Kieran Hebdon (also a member of Fridge), whose second album Pause, released last year on Domino Records, is a thing of gorgeous, chilled beauty. Also joining us will be Canadian Dan Snaith, AKA Manitoba, who released his debut album Start Breaking My Heart on the wonderful Leaf Label last year. For his troubles he won Electronica Album of the Year in the prestigious Canadian Independent Music Awards. Dan played a live set supporting the Jimmy Cake earlier this year as part of the New Breathe 2002 shows in Dublin and we were most impressed.

WONKY2 also sees live sets from a diverse range of exciting new Irish music. The Jimmy Cake return fresh from recording their second album. Creative Controle reveal their new 5-piece live line-up. Joan of Arse, Decal, C40, Goodtime John, Damien Frost, Old Man Polka, Large Mound will rock. Paul O¹Reilly will team up The Expert and Fanagan. Sensational new sounds from The Chalets, Uptown Racquet Club, Jape and Neosupervital. DJ Hostility will hopefully show up (and not hit anyone). The Last Post put in a rare live performance with brass and strings. Brain Girl & Dinghy Boy play records. The Dudley Corporation go acoustic. New interactive pieces, visuals and videos from DEL9, D.A.D.D.Y. and Karl Him & Myles Claffey (Homage). More visual treats from Louise Dunne, Paul Murnaghan & Slavek Kwi, Pixelcorps, Donal Dineen, Cat Hughes, Reasonably, Steve Fanagan and many more. Sentient Cog exhibition at 5th @ the Storehouse, t-shirt designs by Angry, Road Records stall.
